Our weekly goal is to collect $7,500 in our weekly offertory. Last week, we collected $6,740.94. This includes pre-authorized giving and amounts received from Donate Now. I was also noticed that on the weekend of Victoria Day weekend, there was a marked decrease in our collection that weekend. And probably that's because people were away and visiting relatives, hopefully going to Mass wherever they went. Because when we go on vacation, we don't go on vacation from God. But one thing that I just wanted to suggest: If you are going on vacation, that maybe signing up for pre-authorized giving is a way to go about that. That way, the money comes directly out of your bank account once a month and comes to the parish. And you don't have to be scrounging around every week trying to find money to put into your envelopes. You just know that it would automatically be sent to the parish. And also then, if you're going away, you know that your money is still going to your spiritual home. Because that's what the parish is: your spiritual home. And just like when you go away on vacation, you still have to pay your bills at home. So also when you go away on vacation, your bills still need to be paid at your spiritual home. Because the church is not just a spiritual reality, but also a material reality. And just like any other material reality, it has material needs. And each Catholic is obliged to assist the church in its material obligations, its material needs, each according to their own ability. So PAG, pre-authorized giving, is a way of doing this, where it's less hassle, because it just automatically happens, and comes out of your bank account once a month.
