The Official Dedication and opening of St. Thomas the Apostle Church took place on November 30th, 1986, with a Solemn Mass celebrated that day by Cardinal Gerald Emmett Carter during the Pastorship of Fr. Basil Breen. We therefore wish to begin the Fortieth Year of Dedication our Parish Church with a Solemn Mass at 12.00 noon on Sunday November 9th, 2025. Beginning with the Flood that remained for forty days before the New Beginning, leading to Mount Sinai where Moses spent 40 days and nights before receiving the Law with the Israelites who were wandering for 40 years in the desert pointing to Jesus who was fasting for 40 days prior to the commencement of his public ministry and his post-resurrection appearances of 40 days ending with the mystery of His ascension into Heaven, the number 40 has deep Biblical significance as a time of Test, Preparation, Repentance, Purification and Renewal. Let us pray to the Lord to lead us in our transformation in this Jubilee year of our pilgrimage of Hope.
